You Will Need:
- A fine toothed comb
- Hairgrips (lots!)
- Hairspray (lots!)
This is my original photo; as you can see I have my hair scraped back into a ponytail. It has not been washed since yesterday and still has yesterday’s hair products in (lovely, I know!). that is fundamental for a beehive “do. You cannot create it with clean hair as it is too soft and slippery.
First you need to back comb most of your hair so that it stands up like that. that entails holding your hair up in vertical sections and combing it backwards so that the hair sticks up and out in many crazy directions. As you can see I am looking like Russell type on a particularly unkempt day. Be careful not to go too overboard on the back-combing; whether you create too many tangles you will end up with a big matted mess that will have to be cut out of your hair. Once you have created a satisfactory mess out of your hairspray liberally with hairspray.
Then use your fingertips (and to a lesser extent palms-but not too much, they will assemble your hair lose its shape) to fold the hair in on itself and create a smooth shape on the top of your head. Do not over-handle at that stage or your bee-hive will lose its shape and you will have to go back to back-combing again; at that stage that is painful. whether you are happy with your hair in that style (think Amy Winehouse) that is the final step for you. Go out and impress with your stylish, statement “do.
You can create a more formal look by clipping up the remaining sections of your hair. I love wearing my hair like that and always feel like Audrey Hepburn or a bride when I do. Accessorise with virtually anything; scarves, clips, even artificial flowers. Take your comb and a mini-spray out with you in case of any ‘hive emergencies.
