Green Makeup Tips from Paige Padgett

October 30th, 2008 at 01:07pm Under Products

Paige PadgettPaige Padgett has been selected as one of three green makeup artists for the 18th Annual Environmental Media Awards on November 13th at The Ebell of Los Angeles providing artistry for presenters, honorees and board members.

Blush, lipstick, eye shadow – check. Ecological impact… who knows!! For most women, the notion of being “green” or eco-conscious often doesn’t happen in the bathroom. Up to 60% of what goes on your skin is absorbed, so what you put ON your body is as fundamental as what you put IN your body.

This was true for Paige Padgett, until one day, several years ago, when she decided that she wanted to incorporate her eco-friendly lifestyle efforts into her passion–makeup. Since that day, Paige has made it her goal to be environmentally conscious in her work, investigating ingredients, packaging and chemicals. “My make of beauty is eco-conscious with respect to the environment and the individual. I shout it Smart Beauty.”

Paige is a REALIST, not a naturalist. You are increasingly likely to see her in high heels and designer jeans than in hemp clothing and Birkenstocks. “I like contemporary conveniences and technology as much as the next girl, but whether I can help folks reduce their CCF (Cosmetic Carbon Footprint) by even just a little bit, soon after I am happy.”
Here are just a few tips Paige Padgett offers:

1)  Read labels. Shopping for cosmetics is like shopping for groceries.
You have to read the ingredients. Chemicals to watch out for:
A. Parabens–a preservative linked to breast cancer, weight gain
and hormone disruption. Its prefixes are ethyl, methyl, butyl,
isobutyl or propyl.
B. Talc–contains a chemical that is similar to asbestos and can
increase the risk of assured ovarian cancers.
C. Fragrance–that term is used to mask hundreds of chemical
ingredients including phthalates which disrupts the endocrine
system and may cause reproductive and developmental harm.

2)  Plan ahead. construct shopping easier by checking online first for
chemically safe companies at  www.safecosmetics.org or check brands
and ingredients on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep
database at  www.cosmeticdatabase.com.  I can’t live without these
resources.

3)  Trash disposables. Purchase biological cotton wash clothes and natural
sponges that you can wash and reuse.

Paige Padgett is a successful makeup artist, working on TV shows including “The Biggest Loser,” “Shear Genius 2,” and the “Today” show. She currently is a beauty expert for jillianmichaels.com where she writes a green beauty blog.

CTRL Gender Specific Acne Treatment

October 30th, 2008 at 11:32am Under Products

CTRL Gender Specific Acne TreatmentHere’s a news flash … some of the most basic differences amoung men and women are no increasingly than skin deep. Now, with the launch of a revolutionary new skin care product, each gender will be able to address these differences and protect themselves from acne in a way they have never been able to do before.

CTRL(TM) is the world’s first gender-specific, topical, non-prescription acne treatment. that special two-step system uses a carefully-adjusted proprietary formula and a strange combination of natural ingredients to attack and prevent acne at its root cause. CTRL(TM) is uniquely designed in two formulas, CTRL(TM) for Her and CTRL(TM) for Him, with each product created to address the specific design and structure of the skin it is treating.

“It’s amazing, when you look at the many and fundamental differences within men’s and women’s skin. Up until now, ordinary acne products treat acne with the exact same approach without consideration to these differences in male and female skin,” said Brian Jennings, Founder and CEO of Videsante. “CTRL(TM) is designed to take those differences into detail and supply a safe, healthy, comprehensive approach that can erase not only
the appearance of acne but treat the root causes of it as well.”

The science behind CTRL(TM) is based on the four factors that trigger acne. These include hyperkeratinization, sebum production, infection and inflammation. The CTRL(TM) product uses Videsante’s proprietary 5 alpha Phyto-Technology(TM), featuring patented ingredients that attack the root source of acne by reducing oil and sebum production in the skin. At the same instance, CTRL(TM) products additionally deliver a series of prebiotic complexes
that are designed to kill P. acne bacteria deep in the pores without damaging other urgent skin-balancing bacteria. CTRL(TM) uses Salicylic Acid to clear absent dead skin cells and other debris and infuses lipid-rich ceramides into the skin to reduce blemishes and redness, leaving skin smooth and rejuvenated.

Perhaps most amazing is that all that carefully calculated science is accomplished with two simple treatments per day and without the hassle or cost of seeing a dermatologist.

CTRL(TM) for Her and CTRL(TM) for Him were created to address the fact that all skin is most certainly NOT created equal. Here are some crucial differences:

–  Female skin is increasingly fragile and prone to irritation considering female skin
is 25% thinner than male skin, which means the surface is that much more
fragile and prone to irritation
–  Male skin is higher pH main to increases in bacteria growth
–  Female skin has a lower pH and increasingly acidic skin surface requiring a more
balanced product
–  Male skin has increasingly androgen sensitive receptors approach the surface, which
can put oil production into overdrive and overwhelm unsuspecting pores
–  Female skin is affected by estrogen and progesterone levels while male
skin is affected by testosterone
–  Differences in lifestyle mean the male skin is at increasingly risk for skin
surface debris from sweat, dirt and pore-blocking oils

CTRL(TM) has the added bonus of not only benefiting the skin itself but the bodies it wraps around. Innovative new technologies allow CTRL(TM) to deliver maximum effectiveness without using the irritating and potentially dangerous ingredients found in so many personal care products. These include parabens, plus known as environmental estrogens, which are found in many of today’s widely used acne treatments, liquid hand soaps, moisturizers, deodorants and increasingly. Parabens, while designed to prevent the
growth of bacteria within a container, have received increasing scrutiny from consumer advocacy groups and scientists alike in recent years. One reason is their ability and tendency to mimic the body’s natural estrogen, with potentially harmful long-term health effects.

“While our partners in the field of research continue to do their due diligence on the effects of parabens on humans,” said Jennings, “we are delighted to be able to offer our customers an option that takes the anguish off of the table and gives them not only relief from their acne symptoms, but peace of intellect as well.”

CTRL(TM) is a product of Videsante Pharmaceuticals, LLC, a company comprised of veterans from the worlds of pharmaceuticals, marketing, consumer product development, operations, multimedia marketing and finance. Their common vision is captured in the name they chose for their venture: Life (Vide) and Health (Sante). Videsante is committed to helping folks grow and improve through the creation of pharmaceutical-grade skin products that are the aftereffect of a fusion of science and nature. All Videsante products are rigorously tested to meet the divergent needs of customers and healthcare professionals alike while being safe and effective. At the same instance, Videsante is completely committed to social responsibility, as evidenced by corporate proceed contribution initiatives including customer “give-back” programs targeting worthy charities and its total commitment to
environmentally-conscious manufacturing, packaging and non-animal evaluating.
