Thanks for the forum Dr. Rassmun, it has been very informative. I do a lot of research on the Web and it seems that public are all for hair translplants or they are all against them with many failure and nightmare stories. I saw something you wrote saying hair grows for 99% of translpants, but gaging from other sites it seems like 50,50. I was wondering whether you could give me a ballpark number in your experience of folks who are happy with their transplant to citizens who are … [visit site to read more]

Hi Dr Rassman,
Will Propecia show up on my Insurance or my company’s medical report, namely the urine sample analysis? I’ve been on Propecia 1 mg for 2 months now, and I’m 24 years old. I am taking Propecia without a prescription, my local pharmacist sold it to me
Should I tell the insurance humans about the Propecia, or is it nothing to distress about?…Personally, I’d like to keep it to myself..
Thanks a bunch doc

I recently went through about 4-5 months of hair loss. I stopped taking Lexapro and it stopped falling out completely within 6 weeks or so. Do you believe that hair loss is permanent? Do you have any advice on what to use to promote hair growth? I hope that medication did not actually damage the follicles and I will have spots forever. I am worried. Thank you for responding.
45 year old women very nervous.

I have a few very strange hair characteristics. The first is that all by my body (including head), i have a few random hairs that are literally a few times the thickness of a normal hair, like an eyelash, jet black, and they don’t stop growing at a undoubtful length. Is that normal?
The moment is that I have always had a norwood two-ish hairline on one side of my head, I guess that isn’t too strange but the hair i have at the concave part of my hairline towards the middle don’t … [visit site to read more]

Hi doctor, you mentioned [editor’s note: this post] that “Another increasingly vital reason is that the half life (the day it takes for half of the drug to be eliminated by the body) is only 5 to 6 hours”.
So does that mean it will be increasingly effective to take 1mg at 12 hours interval since 1 mg will be eliminated by the body in about 10-12 hours day.
Taking increasingly than 1mg per … [visit site to read more]

Did you know that the average woman applies about 150 different chemicals to her body every day through her skincare and cosmetics? The Beauty With a Conscience Awards in the October issue of Natural Solutions: Vibrant Health Balanced Living (on newsstands now) recognizes the top 101 natural beauty products and uncovers the not-so-pretty truth that carcinogens, hormone disruptors, and heavy metals lurk in shampoos, lotions, perfumes, and makeup - and that these ingredients have been linked to breast cancer and other health problems.
To eliminate confusion by which products are nontoxic as well as easier on the environment, the editors at Natural Solutions chose 101 personal care products that contain the purest, healthiest ingredients for the magazine’s moment annual Beauty With a Conscience Awards.
“We worked closely with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, the Environmental Working Group, and Whole Foods Market to create our own standards - the strictest of any health magazine,” says Lauren Piscopo, editor-in-chief of Natural Solutions. “next we scrutinized roughly 1,500 natural body care products for potentially hazardous ingredients and found that only about 800 were eligible for examining.”
To find that year’s Beauty With a Conscience Award winners, and for a wallet-sized shopping guide that lists the “Toxic 10 Ingredients to Avoid in Skincare,” visit naturalsolutionsmag.com/go/beauty.
Natural Solutions plus investigated claims from cosmetic companies that slap “natural,” “pure,” and “plant-derived” on products filled with toxic chemicals. Manufacturers aren’t due to list all ingredients on labels, even whether they include allergens, phthalates (reproductive toxins), or neurotoxins. The magazine provides resources, such as an iPhone app that can help debunk misleading label claims and determine which ones are merely greenwashing.
Natural Solutions presents its Beauty Awards to coincide with October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “We want women to understand that there’s a connection amoung what they slather on their bodies and possibly serious health concerns,” Piscopo says.

The average person cannot afford to get pedicures every week or even once a month like celebrities can.
It would be a nice luxury whether we could afford that and our feet would be smooth and pretty as well as free of calluses all the date.
However since that just isn’t reality, we can […]

Hi Dr.,
I have a question concerning Nizoral shampoo. I take Propecia once a day, and have been using Nizoral every few days for the past month since there seems to be a great deal of compliment for it as a supplemental item when using a treatment like finasteride (no decent clinical studies to back that up, I know). My question is, have you come across any recent evidence that suggests it has negative consequences/interactions as part of being on a regimen like … [visit site to read more]

I went to a local doctor for a refer and he mentioned that he uses a 2-3 bladed knife with the Haber spreader to insure that no transection occurs. He said that there is less transection with that than with the one bladed knife, when used properly. According to him, with the loner blade, you must go down 2-3 times as deep to cut past the follicles, and whether you are not right on target there will be some transection. Does that sound right - does using a Haber spreader with a … [visit site to read more]

Dear Dr. Rassman
you mentioned before “Some of my patients do not take Propecia (finasteride 1mg) by their personal choice. It is your choice as well. The risk is that you may have increased shock hair loss without taking Propecia before surgery. Shock hair loss is common in men under 30 years old or those who are losing their hair actively when they have a hair transplant. Propecia will prevent that complication in most men” …
