Donor Scarring from Hair Plugs Done about 30 Years Ago

July 28th, 2010 at 06:00pm Under Hair Loss

Thirty years ago I had 4 or 5 sessions hair transplant sessions done using the old punch graph method. For most of those years I was fairly convinced. Lately that has not been the case. The appearance of corn rows is starting to show in the front and it is getting harder to cover up the donor area in the back. Twenty years ago I spoke to a specialist in Philadelphia who disappointed in the methods used in my procedures and he implied that I was not a good candidate for future … [visit site to read more]

Does a Hairline Shift When Closing a Strip Procedure?

July 28th, 2010 at 03:52pm Under Hair Loss

Hi, doc. I’ve been researching hair-transplantation, and I have a question concerning F.U.T. (strip-harvesting): I understand, in that method, a strip is excised from the back of the scalp, the wound next closed. I wonder, thereupon, is not the overall surface of the scalp reduced in that procedure? After two or three procedures, particularly, (or even after one large session) — when, totally, a reasonably wide portion of the scalp has been removed, will not a patient’s hairline, in … [visit site to read more]

I Just Moved and Now I’m Losing Hair

July 28th, 2010 at 11:50am Under Hair Loss

I recently moved to US (bay area) and have been noticing a lot of hair fall. Slightly pulling my hair causes them to come out. I have no serious illness etc. What could be causing the increased hair loss?

Thanks!

It could be a variety of things. Perhaps it is your genetics and the timing was coincidental to the move… or it could be stress-induced (moving can do that)… or it could be allergy… etc, etc. I really have no way to know based on your e mail … [visit site to read more]

Settling In to a Hair Loss sample?

July 27th, 2010 at 06:03pm Under Hair Loss

Do some folks get to a convinced level of hair loss beyond a mature hairline and stay that way without medication? Or is your fate essentially sealed after you reach a convinced level?

Let me clarify what I see as your … [visit site to read more]

July 27th, 2010 at 01:50pm Under Hair Loss

Hi Doc. Right know I’m on Propecia for 3 years, but I’m noticing some thinning in the frontal area. Would it be effective to start to take 2 mg a day? Thank you.

Increasing the medication dosage will not necessarily slow down or help stop the hair loss process. Propecia is a good medication, but it is not the magic bullet. It does not completely stop hair loss and different folks have different results with the medication.

As Propecia is a prescription … [visit site to read more]

Spa De Soleil Founder Rena Revivo Removing Parabens From All Skin Care Products

July 27th, 2010 at 08:33am Under Products

Spa De SoleilSpa De Soleil (http://www.spadesoleil.com) Manufacturing founder and president, Rena Revivo, announced nowadays that she is removing parabens from all Spa De Soleil skin care products in an extensive and conscientious program to improve skin care proprieties.

Parabens are a course of chemicals widely used as preservatives in the skin care, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries due to their bacterial and fungicidal properties. They can be found in moisturizers, cleansing creams, shampoos, toothpaste and as well as frozen, canned and processed foods, however, they are fitting increasingly controversial considering they have been found in high concentrations in breast cancer tumors.

For a lengthy duration, Revivo has been aware that women are getting small amounts of parabens from a large number of sources on a daily basis. It is accumulation of parabens from so many sources day after day that can build to dangerous levels in the body.

“Research has shown that we have to be careful of parabens, but it’s tough for anyone to stay absent from them when they are in so many products and foods we use or consume every day. For that reason I have undertaken the extensive program to remove parabens from all of the Spa De Soleil skin care products,” says Revivo, a leader in the biological and natural skin care products industry.

The Spa De Soleil program is no small feat. Revivo spends her days researching the best ingredients to use in her skin care products and soon after formulating these ingredients into her skin care lines. Many of the ingredients she researches have been used down through the ages for their youthful, skin nourishing and anti-aging properties. She plus researches the source of the ingredients to ensure pure ingredients are secured for use. Each product thereupon takes several months of formulation and evaluating to replace the parabens with these natural ingredients.

Once the formulation process is completed, each Spa De Soleil product, individually, goes through a lengthy series of checking. Care is given to ensure the product is regular, the ph is right, the viscosity is right and that it meets third party microbiological analyzing. Multiply that by hundreds of products and one can see the immense amount of work behind the project.

“And the final tryout is client satisfaction,” says Revivo. “Our clients and professional citizens are an extremely discerning group. They have an astute awareness of our product’s feel and love that our skin care products perform as we say it will, so any changes must continue to supply that spa experience for them. We are happy to report that all improved products are being met with increased gratification and demand.”

For those interested in additional knowledge regarding parabens Revivo suggests visiting the Environment Working Group’s website at http:///www.ewg.org.

Kevin on living life to the fullest

July 26th, 2010 at 07:31pm Under Hair Loss

Mine feels like a life of some dramatic defining events by the past few weeks. I had the privilege of being in South Africa for the FIFA Soccer World cup, which has been widely acclaimed as a huge success. Along with millions of others, not least of all the African folks who proudly hosted that stunning event, without hiccup and with nearly relative ease on their continent for the first date in history, I felt part of the tournament. To feel in the middle of what is without doubt a world spectacle, feeling the excitement and anticipation of each play in every game, knowing folks from every corner of the world were plus watching, is simply euphoric. In so many respects, which has only become clear in my intellect after the fact, it was a defining event in my life.

It felt that no sooner had the final whistle been blown, the final cargo plane loaded to return its precious load back to its domestic destination, the final banner removed from the skyline, that news came in that my dear beloved friend who has been battling leukemia for the past 18-months had been given days to live. In what felt like free-fall from the sky to soil, so the days slowed down and the clock stopped. Alone with his twin girls of 5-years old and loving wife, my dear friend faced is final few days in what has been described to me as peace and calm after the most terrifying of personal battles with physical and emotional pain. As word was quietly passed along of his death, and in the days thereafter main up to the memorial service celebrating his life, it felt like the world around me was frantically active and completely oblivious to my existence. I could not stop thinking about what, whether anything, my dear friend would have changed had he known two years ago what he knew in his dying days with his loved ones. In every respect, that sad loss has been a defining event in my life.

So what, whether any, relevance does that have with a Bosley hair restoration you may ask?  Well my reply is pretty simple. The reminder of these events has been for us to live our lives to the fullest, live like nowadays might be your final. Do the things which bring you and your loved ones delight, considering who knows what tomorrow holds. whether getting your hairline or hair density back is what will bring you happiness, as it did me, get it done. The moment reminder these past weeks and events have had for me is that it is sadly so often only after the fact that you realize the full affect of a defining event on your life. For me, amongst the many such events in my own life as I have reflected so tough in the past few days, so too has my Bosley hair restoration been a defining event in my life.

Rest in peace my dear friend Jono. I miss you already.

- Kevin
